10 Signs You Might be Aging in Place

“I believe the second half of one’s life is meant to be better than the first half. The first half is finding out how you do it. And the second half is enjoying it.”

~Frances Lear

How do you know if you’re aging in place? A question that was posed to me recently.

Here’s a few hints (tongue in cheek):

  1. Over 50 Years of Age (sorry, you must start somewhere)
  2.  Most of your neighbors are younger than you are (I know, I know)
  3. Seen many come and go (you’re staying)
  4. Love your neighbors and don’t want them to move (developed relationships over time)
  5. You’ve remodeled at least once (fixing to stay)
  6. You feel a part of the community (sense of place attachment)
  7. Think of “home” as forever (long-term commitment)
  8. Children are gone (empty nest)
  9.  You have at least one or two rooms you don’t use (kids room shrine or storage for excess stuff)
  10. You’ve changed but your home hasn’t (Peter Pan House)
